IB PYP Homeroom Teacher

Job Description

The teacher will be responsible for teaching English, Mathematics, and Science to Grade 5 students within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) through transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry integrating English, Mathematics, and Science.
Creating inquiry-based and student-centered learning experiences that promote student agency, voice, and choice.
Assessing, monitoring, and documenting student progress using IB PYP assessment practices.
Maintaining effective communication with parents through reports, conferences, and regular updates.
Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Fostering a positive classroom culture based on IB Learner Profile attributes and international-mindedness.
Participating actively in school events, PYP exhibitions, field trips, assemblies, and professional development activities.
Collaborating with colleagues in curriculum planning and school-wide initiatives.
Conducting at least one home visit per student each term.
Meeting families outside of school to strengthen school–parent partnerships.
Supporting student academic progress, wellbeing, and character development through stronger family engagement.

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

Bachelor's Degree in Education or Elementary Education.
Valid teaching qualification, such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
Native English speaker.
Minimum 2 years of primary teaching experience in an international or bilingual school.
IB PYP experience or training is strongly preferred.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Passionate about inquiry-based learning and student development.
Comfortable building strong relationships with parents through regular home visits.
